Makdessi has very good stand-up and impenetrable takedown defense. He appears to be a few degrees above his rival Jesus Pinedo, who is relatively inexperienced and awkward about the feet. He favours flashy kicks but his lack of footwork leaves him open to be countered and crowded. Makdessi has a higher volume and are going to have the ability to consistently land on Pinedo. Since moving into some top brand new camp he appears rejuvenated and appeared very impressive in recent outings. The encounter edge for Makdessi is huge and the only obvious way to eliminate this one is by simply getting clipped with a wild kick. The pick is Makdessi.

The encounter advantage for Saenz will be a large factor against this type of fighter. Saenz will have to steer clear of submissions but a route to success for the underdog is apparent.

Chris Gutierrez Breakdown:
Gutierrez looks to get his competitor outmatched in just about any aspect for this matchup. He has the superior striking abilities, more recognized grappling and takedown defense. Additionally the degree of resistance he’s experienced far surpasses Macdonald who has largely confronted boxers with losing records. Macdonald could be undefeated but he’s fought against such fighters and had a few very close fights visit conclusion.
