Sacramento Kings
What a difference five weeks may create.
Had these positions run in October, the Sacramento Kings would have held among the lowest spots. They were a 55-loss mess just last year, and no one had even hinted at potential. Zach Randolph, who has not logged a second this season and has been exchanged then waived in February, paced that team with 14.5 points per game.
But now, the Kings are making a case for the NBA to make a Most Improved Team award.
Both Buddy Hield and De’Aaron Fox found methods to fast-forward their development. The prior is suddenly a scorer and also shooter. The latter is one of just 10 players averaging seven assists and 17 points. The combination of Harry Giles and Marvin Bagley III is loaded with promise. Bogdan Bogdanovic’s game acts like tissue. Harrison Barnes is your jumbo.
The Kings have the wiggle room to purchase this summer, even though whether this roster is what draws on free brokers, they will have to wait and see. They do get somewhat dinged for not possessing their forthcoming first-round selection, but at least frees the franchise to make an all-out drive for the postseason.
