Assessment of wear in steels used in the manufacturing of backhoe teeth

Abrasion laboratory tests according to ASTM G65 standard, were carried out aiming to select materials with high wear resistance for manufacturing backhoe teeth. Different materials were tested and the results were compared among them in order to identify which one presented the best performance for the application.

The results of the abrasion tests afforded to obtain the following benefits for our customer:

• Validation of its product in order to offer it in the market.
• Reliability in the resistance and durability of its product.
• Technical support in the selection of materials with high resistance to abrasion wear.
• Knowledge of the lifetime of its products, which allows to give recommendations for the predictive-preventive maintenance of its machines.
